Writing a Eulogy

Eulogy means blessing or praise-  a eulogy speech or remembrance is a sincere tribute to the deceased. The person who delivers the eulogy can be a family member, a friend or a colleague. if you are too nervous to speak alone,  ask others to stand with you.

1.   Introduce yourself so all will know your relationship to the deceased.
2.   Express your personal feelings and thoughts, recalling happy moments and activities you shared with the deceased.
3.   Tell anecdotes and talk about real life experiences that capture the deceased’s personality.
4.   Describe the character of the deceased. Highlight good deeds and note values to be admired.
5.   Talk about humorous habits, unique traits or a manner of living.
6.   Refer to family and other mourning relatives, explaining  what she or he meant to the deceased.
7.   Identify special skills, meaningful accomplishments and life goals that were achieved.
8.   Describe places the deceased traveled to or visited frequently.
9.   Briefly summarize the life of your loved one and what he/she meant to you.
10. Select a favorite quote or poem to conveys a message to mourners.
