Making Loss Matter:
Creating Meaning in Difficult Times.
Rabbi Wolpe's most recent book is Why Faith Matters.

"Suffering can open the soul. It can enable us to be close to others in a new way and most experiences of life carry both meanings of doleket; they are light and flame, both at once."

"We bring light into this world not as a source but as a prism – it comes through us. As electricity requires a conduit, so spirit moves through human beings to touch others in crucial moments."

"To feel one's own mortality certainly evokes fear that one will be gone, but also it evokes appreciation for all that outlives us. Sometimes knowing we can lose all we have helps us love those things –the sky, the stars, even God –that are beyond having."

"Become that which you have lost." "We owe the deceased a debt to continue,to grow and to love." Listen to Rabbi David Wolpe- Kever Avot Memorial:
